Setting up to take part in your Live Online Area Heat Quiz
Setting up to take part in the live area heat quiz is straightforward and we have included instructions which you can download for how to do this below.
What you will need:
ACCESS THE QUIZ BROADCAST ON ZOOM
You should select the quiz you are booked to take part in from the links below. The quiz broadcast will be available to access from 10 minutes before it is due to start so you have plenty of time to set up your handset/s and make sure everything is running as it should. The quiz will then commence promptly at the time advertised and run for one hour. If you have not joined the quiz before the start time, it will not be possible to join it once it is running.
You will need your password to access the quiz. This will have been sent to you by email before your online heat.
One main computer. This has to be a PC or laptop. This is NOT used as a handset but as the computer on which the quiz will run. This computer should be connected to a whiteboard or projector and have speakers that are turned on so the teams can clearly see and hear the quiz.
DEVICE/S FOR HANDSET/S
One separate device PER TEAM to act as a handset. This can be a PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. The quiz is not visible on these devices - they are set up to act as handsets only.
TESTING YOUR CONNECTIONS
We would strongly advise that you test your connection to the quiz and handset software using the computer/devices you intend to use for the quiz well before the event to ensure you are able to access these on those particular devices. Some schools have very high levels of security on their systems and it may be necessary for you to have the website we use for the quiz input as a 'safe site' on your system for the duration of the quiz. The full instructions for how to do this are available below.
MAKING SURE YOUR DEVICES DO NOT GO INTO 'SLEEP' MODE
If you are setting up the devices for the handset/s well before the quiz, these devices should have their 'sleep' mode turned off as it is possible if they go to sleep the connection to the handset software may be impaired.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF THE QUIZ?
At the end of the quiz, the top scores are announced in reverse order and all scores are then visible on the screen and individual team scores and placings are shown on the team handset. All schools taking part in the heat will be emailed the scores after the quiz has finished. The teams with the top scores will be invited to take part in the Finals of the Championship.
